Q: What is Balayage and how is it different from foils?
A: Balayage is a free-form highlighting technique that works with your hair’s natural movement and creates a beautiful, natural, dimensional highlight. The benefits of choosing Balayage over other highlighting techniques are healthier hair, more vibrant color, shine, natural looking dimension with a very natural outgrowth and little to no maintenance.
It remains the most creative and sought after technique in the hair industry today.
Q: Why does my stylist at Barberia cut my hair before the Balayage?
A: Your haircut and color should work together. By performing Balayage after your haircut, the stylist’s are able to place the color exactly where it will have the most impact. By doing this, your hair color is created, not just applied.
Q: Am I able to do different colors of Balayage?
A: Absolutely! At Barberia we utilize the colors that are best for you. However, unlike foils, Balayage creates many different shades on each and every one that is applied.
Q: Why would Balayage be better for me vs. “foils”?
A: There are many reasons why you should choose Balayage. First, our highlighting product is very different, we do not use harsh chemicals usually associated with highlighting. With Balayage, the product is applied directly on top of the hair, not through it. When getting a foil, the hair is saturated and then wrapped in heat conducting aluminum foil. This creates an environment where the cuticle is forced open, thus the increasing risk of damage.
Also with foiling, the product is applied right up to your scalp, creating a maintenance nightmare! Balayage allows for natural depth, which not only creates a look that is soft and sun-kissed, but it also means less trips to the salon! You will experience a natural looking outgrowth.
Q: What if I only want a little bit of highlight?
A: Then there is no better choice than Balayage. Flashes of light, and shine take just minutes with this technique, making it a great option for a “little” color. Also, this will enhance your look without the commitment of monthly salon visits.
